Email MarvinAfter growing up in Houston, Texas, Marvin L. Denison accepted God's calling to the gospel ministry at the age of 18 in 1978. This led him into several youth ministry positions in the East Texas area as he attended East Texas Baptist University. Sensing a call to the pastorate, Marvin was licensed and ordained to the gospel ministry. Marvin has pastored churches in east Texas and Arizona.
After graduating from ETBU and while attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Marvin met and married the love of his life, Paula J. Williams on September 16, 1989. Shortly afterwards he received his Master of Divinity Degree.
In 1995, he and Paula were sent out by the North American Mission Board as Home Missionaries to plant a new church in Arizona. Along with church planting Marvin has also been a college professor. One of his greatest joys was that he was privileged to be a Hospice Chaplain for the Mohave Valley area.
In 2002, after successfully serving in this capacity in Arizona, Marvin sensed a call of God to Pastor back in the "Promised Land" of East Texas.
Marvin and Paula have served in various capacities and multiple settings building bridges to people outside and inside the walls of the church to reach them for Jesus Christ. God has graciously gifted them with the unique ability to reach people no matter what age, race or gender. People matter most!
Marvin's deepest desire and passion is to be a "difference maker" in the lives and hearts of people. For he and Paula, this privilege is truly realized while Shepherding the people of God in a church setting. The closest thing to the heart of God is family...and the closest to their heart is church family.
Email GaryRomans 1:16, I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyong who beleieves, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
I accepted Christ August 1977 and surrendered tto the ministry in 1980. Now I lead in the ActSix ministry reaching out to shut-ins with music, fellowship and the Word of God. May everything we do bring honor and glory to God the Father, and my Lord Jesus Christ.
Email LanceIt is great to be back home!!! I was raised in this wonderful church family and came to the saving knowledge of Jesus at the age of seven. I was very active in the church as a child and was involved in Bible Drill which really made me realize the importance of memorizing God's word and geting to know it better everyday. As I got older I was involved in the youth department and my relationship with Christ grew stronger and stronger. At the age of sixteen our youth group went on a mission trip near Austin, TX. Two life changing things happened to me while on this mission trip. First while on the trip, I began to feel God's call on my life to be a part of his ministry. When we got home from that trip I talked to my parents and told them that I felt God calling me into His minstry, and after talking with them I surrendered my life to God's ministry. Also while on that trip I met a girl who would later become my wife. Summer and I dated for over five years and after being high school sweethearts we got married in July of 2006. I am a graduate of East Texas Baptist University with my degree in religion with an emphasis in pastoral ministries. My objective in youth ministry is to disciple students and guide them to strengthen their relationships with Christ, with one another, and with their families.
Email TeriI have been a member of this sweet fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ for several years. I can not describe how blessed I have been to grow up here at WCBC, to have my own family worshipping here and to now actually be on staff working with an awesome group of children and their parents. I have been serving as the Children's Ministries Coordinator since July 2007 and the children have taught me more in that time than I ever thought possible. (I was actually under the mistaken impression that I would be teaching them) I look forward to several more years of serving and learning with the children of WCBC. My goal and prayer for these children is that they will come to know the Savior that I love, that they will have a solid foundation on which they can build their life and that they will know the joy of an intimate relationship with Jesus.
