Therapy -A Path Toward Healing and Hope
At Village of Hope Guatemala, we believe that true healing comes when the love of Jesus meets the practical care of those who walk alongside us in our pain. One of the ways we strive to provide holistic care is through therapy -a vital part of helping each child find restoration and hope after the deep wounds of trauma.
Every child’s story is unique, and so is their journey toward healing. That’s why our ministry is blessed to have four dedicated Christian therapists on staff, each prayerfully chosen and thoughtfully matched to a child’s individual needs. Through play therapy, family therapy, horse therapy, individual counseling, group sessions, and specialized therapies such as EMDR, our goal is to help each child not only process their past but also discover their worth and identity in Christ.
We know that Jesus is the ultimate healer- “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). Yet, we also recognize that He often works through compassionate hearts and trained hands. Our therapists serve as vessels of His love, gently guiding each child toward the hope and freedom found in Him.
Healing is not instant, but it is possible -and we see glimpses of God’s miraculous work every day. As one child begins to smile again, another dares to dream, and still another learns to pray for the first time, we are reminded that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
